Identification of QTL for seed yield and agronomic traits in 944 soybean ( <i>Glycine max</i> ) RILs from a diallel cross of early‐maturing varieties

Abstract Increasing soybean yield plays a key role in meeting the high demand for protein Europe and other countries. The aim of this study was to dissect genetic architecture underlying seed yield, plant height, thousand‐seed weight early‐maturing soybean. To end, we performed QTL mapping based on 944 RILs derived from half‐diallel crossing design five parents. We identified eight each four agronomic traits some explained considerable proportion genotypic variance. three major showed pleiotropic effects two or more traits. Fine characterization revealed maturity genes E1 E3 , stem growth habit gene Dt2 as likely candidates these QTL. In general, allele increasing also resulted taller plants, which needs be considered during selection due an increased risk lodging. Collectively, our results underline strong effect loci like range including making them attractive targets marker‐assisted selection.
